What's the difference between a leveling kit, lift kit, and body lift?
A leveling kit (1"–2.5") raises just the front of your truck to match the rear (most trucks come with rake from the factory). A suspension lift kit (3"–8") raises the whole vehicle by replacing or adding to the suspension components. A body lift raises the body off the frame using spacers — cheap but doesn't add ground clearance.
What size tires can I run after lifting?
Depends on the truck and the kit. Rough rules of thumb:
- Stock height — typically 1 size up from factory before rubbing.
- Leveling kit (2") — usually 33s on a half-ton truck.
- 3-inch suspension lift — 33–35s.
- 6-inch suspension lift — 35–37s, sometimes with fender trim.
- 8"+ — 37s or larger, often with re-gearing.
We measure your specific truck before quoting tire size — we won't sell you tires that rub.
Will lifting affect my warranty?
Yes, suspension changes can void powertrain warranty in some cases. If your truck is still under factory warranty, ask the dealership first or talk to us — some manufacturers (Toyota, Ford) are more lenient than others.
Do I need new shocks with a lift kit?
For anything over 2", yes. Stock shocks are designed for stock travel. Lift kits push the suspension past stock travel and stock shocks bottom out, leak, and fail early. Quality kits include matched shocks (Bilstein, Fox, King) — we recommend going with the kit's matched shocks.
Do I need an alignment after?
Always. Lifting changes camber, caster, and toe. We include the alignment in every lift install quote so you don't pay twice.
How long does the install take?
Most leveling kits and small (3") lifts: 4–6 hours. Bigger lifts (6"+): full day. UCAs, sway-bar drops, brake-line extensions, and bump-stop spacers add time. We're upfront about scope before we start.
What does it cost?
Wide range — leveling kits start around $400 installed; complete 6" lifts with shocks, UCAs, alignment can run $2,500–$5,000+ depending on parts. Call (916) 627-1998 with your year/make/model and what you want and we'll quote in 5 minutes.
